Food and Nutrition Department Intent Statement

The WSAPC Food curriculum equips students with knowledge that will allow them to make good independent choices for life.  Cooking skills are learnt which informs students decisions about diet and health and how to prepare food safely.  Students learn life skills like budgeting, planning including for special diets, that will help them navigate in the wider world.  At every site, students contribute to the WSAPC community by preparing and cooking lunch daily.  The 100% success rate of students gaining a BTEC Home Cooking Skills Level 1 or Level 2 in this subject, empowers them with lifelong knowledge and skills that open up a lot of doors in the food hospitality and catering industries.
