APC Worthing

Our Worthing Anxiety Centre forms part of the APC Curriculum Access Team (CAT) intervention offer, providing specialist, short term support for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils experiencing anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), or other health related barriers to accessing mainstream education.

Placements are agreed through the CAT referral process and typically last between 6 and 12 weeks, with clear outcomes identified from the start. The focus is on helping young people rebuild confidence, reconnect with learning, and prepare for a successful transition back to their mainstream school.

Pupils learn in a calm, nurturing environment alongside others who may be experiencing similar challenges. Alongside a broad curriculum, personalised pastoral support and targeted interventions help pupils develop emotional resilience, independence, and practical strategies to support their return to school.

Every placement has a clear exit route. The Worthing Anxiety Centre is a focused intervention rather than a long term placement, giving young people the skills, confidence, and support they need to move successfully back into their mainstream setting.
