What is Alternative Provision?

Overview
Alternative Provision (AP) is education designed for young people who, for a range of reasons, cannot access mainstream schooling in the short term.
At Sussex APC, we see AP not as a last resort, but as a deliberate, positive step that can help students reconnect with learning, build confidence, and prepare for what’s next.
Our model focuses on:

1
Reengaging young people with their education and peers.

2
Refocusing on achievable goals that match their skills, interests, and needs.

3
Reintegrating into the right next setting, from mainstream schools to specialist colleges or apprenticeships.
We offer a mix of academic opportunities, life skills programmes, and personal development support. Students leave us better equipped, more confident, and ready to take control of their journey.
